Photochromic

Polarization of light reduces glare.  A thin polarizing layer sandwiched between two lenses cuts down light reflected in the horizontal plane

Polycarbonate

Molded lens with higher impact resistance.  PC has higher index and lighter weight than Crown Glass

Quadrifocal

Quadrifocal or Double Bifocal lenses are often used in occupations such as aviation and dentistry when near vision correction is frequently required both above and below the usual level of the eyes

Ultraviolet

Some medical experts advise that general purpose eyewear should have at least 95 percent reduction of UVB radiation (290 - 315 nm) and 60 percent reduction of UVA radiation (315 - 380 nm).  Many lenses do not met these levels of reduction for UVA radiation and UVB radiation.  UVC light is not normally of concern as most solar UVC is filtered out by the earth's atmosphere. Where UV reduction is important, it is better to use specially coated lenses that achieve 99% reduction of UVA radiation and 99% reduction of UVB radiation
